Early Union School No. 5

1833 – The first school was built near the present Pedlar Vault in the Union Cemetery.  It was of log and the seats were split logs.

1856 – The next school was brick, and was erected near the Rev. Robert Thornton’s Church was just inside the front gate of the Union Cemetery.
